Newly Minted Marijuana:
The newly minted Marijuana, Cannabis and Hemp legalization law is sure to be a hot-button discussion for many, for years to come. One of the biggest reasons for the legislation, is because of the taxation benefits that this would bring to the Canadian economy. At present, it is estimated that the Canadian economy is about to lose an estimated $12 billion of tax revenue over the next five years. In addition to the tax revenue, there are also the jobs that the legal cannabis industry can create.

Cannabis industry:
The industry is already booming in the USA with it being estimated that the cannabis industry will create between 400,000 to 1 million new jobs. Based on what we have seen in the USA, it is possible that the billion dollar cannabis industry could add as much as $5 billion to the Canadian economy. Jobs are just one of many marketing benefits that this bill will bring to Canada. The legalization of cannabis was indeed a watershed moment for the Canadian economy.
Unilateral cannabis legalization:
It is very hard to predict the consequences of unilateral cannabis legalization. Since there are so many different medical uses of cannabis, with varying effects, you can't simply extrapolate from one use to another. For example, a drug that can cause short-term memory loss (like alcohol) might be very dangerous if inhaled through a bong but might be safer when taken orally in pill form.
Marijuana smoke:
A person with cancer might be willing to tolerate the side effects of inhaling marijuana smoke but might prefer not to swallow a pill. Or, a patient might decide to treat her nausea with a drug that compromises her thinking. If you legalize marijuana for medical use, then you need to make sure that doctors are educated about the different effects of each type of use. They should be able to recommend the type of use which is safest for each patient, maximizing the medical benefit while minimizing the side effects.
Used Good or Not:
How can President Obama Justice Department allowing the legalization of marijuana in Colorado and Washington be 'good'? How can it be 'good' to allow the government to collect taxes on a substance that is illegal under federal law? How can it be 'good' to allow people to grow marijuana in their backyards, and others to smoke it in their living rooms and vehicles? How can it be 'good' to allow dealers of hard drugs to run marijuana operations? Why is the President ignoring existing US Federal laws? Has the Justice Department gone rogue?
